It's mid-October. Summer is over. Wait, take that back. The temperature gauge on the car read 105 as we drove through Los Angeles this past weekend (October 16th) - I guess we just shouldn't be surprised anymore. We returned from that BEAUTIFUL fall excursion through Disneyland on our Surprise Trip 2009. No other plans for the near future though Mark is back to work and that may bring some travel (which excites Caitlynn only because daddy always brings home "surprises" in his suitcase!).

For those of you who don't know, Mark manages the household event calendar and in October of every year, he busts his tail to take the family on a special "surprise" trip.
It all began well before we were married and Mark had a clandestine plan cooked up with Susanne (then living in Pullman, WA) to whisk Nikki away for a weekend without informing her of the destination. His plan worked (almost) flawlessly and he's been at it ever since.
Each alternating year is a solo trip (just the family) and opposite years, Nikki finds a handful of friends tagging along for the ride. They have all been wildly successful - it seems like each year gets better! Call it his second job during the month of October, Mark puts his blood, sweat and tears into every trip!
